Australian government - energy made easy: the power to compare

How do I compare my current plan rates on EME?

EME does not show your current plan or your current rates.

Instead, it shows you the best plans available in your postcode, including the best plan from your current energy company (also known as your retailer).

Tips on using your bill to help compare your current plan rates with plans on EME

To compare what you are paying now with plans on EME, you can take the following steps:

  • Grab the latest copy of your bill
  • Look at page 2 of your bill to find your current rates. Below is an example of how this might look.
  • Keep in mind that while EME rates do include GST, the rate on your bill may not include GST. Please check on your bill whether the rate includes GST.
  • The information contained in your bill will depend on what type of plan you are on. Your plan might be time of use (with a peak or off-peak rate), or single-rate, with one flat rate.
  • You can then compare the plans on EME to the rates on your bill.
